Troubleshooting Guide

QUESTION:

I just installed the Red5 Pro server and I am having trouble getting it to stream.  What should I do?

ANSWER:

Please, make sure that you have done the following:

    • Opened all required ports.
    • Running the latest version of the server and/or SDKs.
    • If you are running Red5 Pro on your local network all your devices need to be on the same network.
    • Inserted your License Key into the server:
      • Open the folder that has your server in it and find the LICENSE.KEY file.  Then replace YOUR-LIC-ENSE-KEY1 with the Server License you find in your accounts overview page.
        • Note: If you are using our mobile SDK, you will need to insert your SDK License into the application as per the following documentation.
    • Installed all required software dependencies:
      • Ubuntu Linux
        • Suggested Ubuntu 16.04
        • Java 8 and other required libraries per this doc.
      • CentOS
        • Note: Running Red5 Pro on CentOS requires build version 7 or higher.
        • Java 8 and other required libraries per this doc.
      • Windows
        • Microsoft Visual Studios redistributables if you don't have Visual Studio on your machine.
        • Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) - recommended version 8 or higher.
          • Set the JAVA_HOME variable:
            • Find the installation folder for your Java installation, then go to System Properties > Advanced System Settings > Environment Variables. Under System variables, click on New...
              • Variable name: JAVA_HOME
              • Variable path: (will be something like) C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_66
    • Have at least 4GB of system memory, or have modified the JAVA Heap allocation to less than the default 2GB.
